1. Select "Preferences" from the "Mail" menu.
2. Click on the "Accounts" button.
3. Click on the "+" sign in the bottom left corner of the window to add a new e-mail account.
4. On the "Add Account" screen type your name, email address and password. Click "Continue".
5. On the "Incoming Mail Server screen", select "IMAP" from the Account type pull-down menu. Type a brief description for the server (this can be anything you wish), for "Incoming Mail Server" type "mail.yourdomain.com", for the user name, type your full email address again. The password should be prefilled with the password you entered on the previous screen. Click "Continue" you might receive a warning about Mail not being able to identify "mail.yourdomain.com", this is due to the SSL certificate being used for all the different domains on the server and is not a problem, click "Connect" to continue.
6. On the Outgoing Mail Server screen, again type a brief description for the server, this again can be anything you choose. For the "Outgoing Mail Server" field, again type "mail.yourdomain.com" and MAKE SURE "Use Authentication" is checked. You will not be able to send email without authentication. The "Username” and “Password" fields should be pre-populated with information you added on the previous screens. Click "Continue". Because Mail.app configures the use SSL option by default for outgoing e-mails you will need to perform an additional step. When the message "Checking connection to mail server "mail.yourdomain.com"…" comes up on the screen click on the "Cancel" button, then click the "Continue" button. You will get an "Account Summary" screen with the info you entered, now click on the "Create" button.
7. You will be presented with the main "Accounts" screen again. Now select the account you just created from the list on the left-hand corner and in the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" section in the bottom select "Edit Server List" from the pull-down menu. Select the outgoing mail server for your account from the list and click on the "Advanced" tab. If you wish to use SSL, change the "Server Port" field to 465 and click "OK". If you do not wish to use SSL, simply uncheck the "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" option and click "OK". Please note that some ISPs block the standard SMPT which is port 25. In this case, use port 2525.
